Overcoming the Final Enemy Before Your Victory

Encouraging truths about overcoming and thriving from Devaney Rae’s book, Countless Joys: The Place Beyond Tears (Westbow Press, 2015):

I will remind myself of the faithful warriors who conquered their final enemy; the one that was standing between them and their healing, deliverance, wholeness, and destiny:

David had Goliath.

Moses had the Egyptians.

Joseph has Potiphar’s wife.

Gideon has the Midianites.

Hannah had Penninah.

Deborah had Sisera.

Esther had Haman.

Elijah had Jezebel.

John the Baptist had Herod Antipas’s unlawful wife (who was his brother Philip’s wife). Whew, it’s complicated!

Countless other men and women, who endured for Christ, conquered their final enemy.

And Jesus had the sins of all of us.

Yet they all overcame the final battle and won the personal victory!
